As a Certified Vet Tech with special interest in behavior and training, I especially loved the videos from Justine Schuurmans and Kim Brophey. Both of their videos are extremely helpful and especially insightful in giving us the chance to look at the relationship between people and dogs in a whole different way. I think every Veterinary Technician should see these videos by Schuurmans and Brophey. Ms Schuurmans' video can help us counsel clients with small children in how to build a true bond between the child and the dog. Also a way to teach the child to have respect for the dog - and all animals. Ms Brophey's video gave us the chance to change our perception of the dog's ability to learn, to engage and actively participate in the things happening to them (like a vet visit). Giving them the choice to allow themselves to be handled is HUGE. And it's something, sadly, I don't think many technicians really consider. Which is why so many dogs have such a fearful or anxious response when at the vet. Even low stress handling and fear-free training don't come out and give the dog permission to CHOOSE to engage. And they don't stress the dog's autonomy the way Ms Brophey does. I also watched her TED talk....amazing!

Wow excellent summit. I've enjoyed every minute of it. As a retired obedience instructor, I'm so excited to hear that force is definitely out and FUN is the opporative word!!! My past VIZSLAS did gain their OB, AD titles, under the old school. Being a happy fun loving breed I was able to make a game out of there training.
All power to Matt Beisner..."Trauma=Loss of Self".... give space... help K9 get back to it's "SELF".... K9S need Care not training etc etc.
My totally shattered Vizsla both physically and mentally eventually gained her AD titles once I gave her the space to find her own resilient V spirit.
Melissa and Dr. Ian, my 1yr V boy is absolutely thrilled to now have his training mixed up with his games.
Andrea, "let K9s be a K9"... I love it!
Doggy Dan, Yes yes, like you, my Moto has always been "Think Dog"!!
I've enjoyed & learnt lots from each and everyone of your professional presenters. A huge Thank you One &All.
Apologies for lengthy review.
Maza, and VIZSLAS Darcy (12.3yrs), Mirri (1yr).🐾🐾
