INSTRUCTOR

The Dunbars
Dr. Ian, Kelly, and Jamie Dunbar are the trio behind various dog training ventures. Ian, a veterinary graduate with a Ph.D. in dog behavior, pioneered the first off-leash puppy socialization classes and founded the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Kelly, originally from Chicago, became one of the first certified pet dog trainers and has managed multiple training and daycare facilities. Jamie, Ian's son, is a Brown University graduate who initially joined as a video editor but now handles marketing and content creation. Together, they have launched initiatives like Dog Star Daily and Open Paw to offer free training resources and support for shelters. Their collective work has impacted hundreds of thousands of dogs and their owners.

I am really grateful to Ness Jones for sending me an invite to this summit. I have found all the speakers interesting but if pushed to give a favourite so far (doesn't that sound childish!) it would have to be Doggy Dan because his information about energy levels and subtle leadership really resonate with me. I see so many hyped dogs when I am out and about and you can see the human 'in charge' is just the same! The dog is clearly stepping up as they are not receiving calm guidance and leadership from their human.
It really is a rounded relationship that brings great dynamics and the possibilities to live peacefully and joyfully together with your dog. Training together, exercising together and hanging out together happily without the need to bribe with treats all the time! Thank you for organising great speakers to a great summit.
People who want to adapt to respect their dog as being a dog and leave the hideous term 'fur babe' behind them like a moulted out coat. Then move forward with love and admiration for all that being a dog means and then they might find themselves with less issues with their dog and definitely have a happier dog!
Thank you for bringing so much expertise together in the one place - while its possible to get second and third opinions from vets, when they are all similar opinions based on a medical model but omitting holistic approaches, they don't offer perspectives in the same way that vets and animal health practitioners did in this summit. In the days before I encountered it on social media, my five yo border collie had been diagnosed with cruciate disease and severe arthritis in her back legs. We'd fed previous borders raw food, and they lived to 17 and 16. There were difficulties with our current girl in eating the same diet, and she only settled down on a 'prescription' one, which she stayed on, counter to my gut feeling it wasn't enough, but I was following expert advice. I was lucky enough to catch this as it unfolded, and have been recommending it to friends on social media. I now know better and feel more confident in being able to advocate and care for her differently. I am hopeful that her physical and 'behavioural' concerns will improve on a raw diet - and she is going straight for the sardines and meaty bones before anything!
Every single vet, especially those who have been harbouring doubts about conventional approaches based on problem-solution and treating symptoms, and every single dog owner and carer, including those whose animals are currently doing fine. There is much in here that also translates to human health, so you may find insights into your own or family health challenges with a better understanding of nutrition, diet, gut-brain connections and microbiomes.
This was a great series. I have been feeding a total raw regime to my golden retriever since he was four months old and told me he HATED kibble. He is now 19 months old and thriving on his raw. These sessions expanded and reinforced my knowledge… thank you 🙏
I have already shared the series on Facebook with the Golden Retriever NZ group but would recommend it to all dog owners.
